Asansör

The Historical Asansör (Elevator) located on Mithatpaşa Street and running to the Asansör the street of Dario Moreno, are places well worth visiting in the city. Asansör was built in 1907 by Nesim Levi Bayraklı.

He is the grand-grandfather of Marc Levy, who is a worldrenowned French writer.

Before its construction, a stairway with 155 steps was used to climb to the Halil Rıfat Paşa, a district 50 meters above. With the aid of the two elevators in the tower, the two districts were joined.
